Thor vs Jormungandr Candle Holder Sculpture
$19.00
Handmade alder wood candle holder sculpture showing Thor, the god of thunder, fighting the World Serpent Jormungandr. Made in Ukraine.
The duel of Thor and Jormungandr, the serpent that encircles the world, is one of the best-known scenes of Norse mythology. It is part of Ragnarok: Thor slays the serpent but dies from its venom. Thor stands for strength, order and the protection of people, Jormungandr for chaos and destruction.
We hand-carve each piece from alder wood, so the grain and small details vary from piece to piece.
A fitting piece for a Norse mythology collection, home decor or as a gift for anyone who loves history and myths.
Details:
• Material: alder wood
• Size: ~60 × 60 × 55 mm (~2.4 × 2.4 × 2.2 in), L × W × H
• Weight: ~120 g (~4.2 oz)
• Candles: tealights (~40 mm / ~1.6 in opening) or long candles (~15 mm / ~0.6 in diameter)
• Handmade in Ukraine by Ostvytsia
Care: wipe with a soft dry cloth; to keep the colour rich, rub occasionally with linseed oil. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
