Urnes Drakkar Candle Holder, Wood
$49.00
Handmade alder wood “Urnes Drakkar” candle holder shaped like a Viking ship with a dragon head. Made in Ukraine.
The shape and ornament are inspired by the Urnes style, the last style of Viking Age art, which emerged in the last quarter of the 11th century and is named after the carvings of the Urnes stave church in Norway. It is known for flowing lines, asymmetry and stylised animals interlaced in figure-of-eight loops.
We hand-carve each piece from alder wood, so the grain and small details vary from piece to piece.
A fitting piece for Scandinavian-style interiors or as a gift for Viking Age enthusiasts.
Details:
• Material: alder wood
• Size: ~140 × 70 × 110 mm (~5.5 × 2.8 × 4.3 in), L × W × H
• Weight: ~122 g (~4.3 oz)
• Candles: tealights (~40 mm / ~1.6 in opening) or long candles (~15 mm / ~0.6 in diameter)
• Handmade in Ukraine by Ostvytsia
Care: wipe with a soft dry cloth; to keep the colour rich, rub occasionally with linseed oil. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
